Our 6-step program to your custom home
It’s easy to build your home with Horizon!
Building a custom home should be an exciting and rewarding experience. Our process is designed to keep you informed, involved, and confident from the first conversation to the day you receive your keys. We believe clear communication, thoughtful planning, and quality craftsmanship are the foundation of every successful project. As we work together, our team is here to answer your questions, guide you through each stage, and make the journey to your dream home as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
Step 1
The wishlist
Every Horizon Home starts with your “Wishlist”.
“Our philosophy is to give the customer exactly what we would want in our own home,” says Robin. “Every customer meets directly with me during the planning process from home design consultation to contract.” The Design Consultation meeting with Robin and her team to choose the home plan to suit your needs and lifestyle, includes a tour of our model homes.
Step 2
Contract & Finance planning
In Step 2 of the process, we will meet as a team to confirm your “Wishlist” has been fulfilled in the final plan design. Once you are satisfied with your new home plan, we will execute the building contract. We can also arrange for a Financing Consultation with a preferred lender. We work closely with our buyers and approved lenders. From pre-approval to closing, our goal is to make it as easy as possible for you to realize your dream home. Our preferred lenders can assist you during every step to make the financing process easy.
Step 3

Let the fun begin! It’s time to bring your “Wishlist” to life.
Horizon Homes’ Interior Designer has over 30 years of experience. She works with each customer during the selection stage to make their house a home. Choose flooring, paint colors, tile and fixtures that show off your style.
Step 4
architectural review & Permitting
submission
Once your home is framed, we will set up an onsite meeting with our Site Manager to review your closet design, electrical and lighting locations. At this time, we will also review the landscape plan and driveway/patio placement.
Step 5
Final Design & Pre-Drywall Review
Once your new home is framed, we will set up an onsite meeting with our Site Manager to review your electrical- lighting locations as well as closet design. At this time, we will also review the landscape plan and driveway/patio placement. Our Interior Designer will take you to the granite/quartz showroom to choose your countertops and finalize your paint colors. Plan on 2 days for these meetings.
Step 6
move-in &
enjoy
Once your dream home by Horizon Homes is complete, you’re ready to move in and really start living! Our Warranty Coordinator will do a New Home Orientation showing you how everything works in your new home. As part of your home building team, we follow up after move in to make sure your custom home is living just as it should. It’s time to pop a cork and toast your new home!
